Our Journey To Bring Emily Home...
2006
July 30 Request info packet from All God's Children, Int.l and start the process to get passports!!
September 18 Sign contract with AGCI and begin paperwork process...YIKES!!
November 20 Turn in our several inches thick dossier and officially become a "number" on the girls' waiting list. We debut at #30!!
2007
April 23 We get the referral call about Carolina.
April 26 Carolina's birthmother comes back for her, so we go back to "the top of the list" & wait for OUR daughter to find us.
May 22 We get the call that Emily has found us!!! We get her referral pictures via e-mail. The next day we receive a video of...Anaya!! After a couple calls & another day, we get Emily's referral video... :)
May 30-June 4 Our visit trip to Guatemala to hold Emily, meet her birthmother & sign the Power of Attorney papers. We also get to meet Ryan & Stacy who are on their visit trip to hold Anaya !! Then we spend a couple days in Panajachel & the Lake Atitlan area before coming home.
September 13 Enter PGN. We're told to expect 3-7 months for this process.
November 28 PGN Approval!!! WOOHOOO...we're ahead of schedule!!! Emily is now legally our daughter!!
November 30 Enter Civil Registry where a new birth certificate is issued with our last name. We're told it could take up to 21 business days.
2008
January 4 (sound of brakes screeching to a halt) We get "previewed" in Civil Registry & are told once our file is re-submitted it will take up to 30 business days for approval or another "preview"...
January 24 Re-submitted into Civil Registry!!
March 11 Fourteen weeks after our original submission, APPROVAL in Civil Registry!!!
March 13 Emily gets her new birth certificate--things are gonna start moving quickly now...
March 14 Emily gets her Guatemalan Passport
March 18 Our file is submitted to the US Embassy
March 25 2nd DNA appointment
April 9 We get our PINK SLIP e-mail from the US Embassy
April 14 Emily is IN OUR ARMS...
April 16 Emily's visa appointment at the US Embassy
April 18 HOMEWARD BOUND!!!
